New Fabrics from Blank!

Our UPS guy has a sore back!  Wednesday he dropped off a big box from Hoffman and Thursday he dropped off 5 big boxes of new fabric from Blank. Then about a half-hour later,

Barnyard II by Blank

the Fedex guy dropped off a box from Benartex.

Our Hoffman box contained the rest of the Bali Pops, so we’re now stocked up again on all five flavors!  And we also got a couple of 1895’s we were waiting for to complement a couple of the new Bali Handpaint collections we put together.  So, I have to take some new pictures of those.

Our Benartex box contained the rest of our Eleanor Burns True Blue collection, except for two fabrics that are on backorder.  But at least now we have several darker colors to go with all those lights.  I’ll be getting the collections updated in the next day or so, meanwhile they’re on the website.

Jitterbugz by Blank

Jitterbugz by Blank

We we just got through putting five brand new lines from Blank up on the site that came in yesterday. There are so many neat fabrics, I don’t know where to start!

OK, we’ll start with the novelty fabrics.  Cindy’s choice for novelty fabric was Jitterbugz.  This is a very colorful collection, with bold primary colors that will appeal to babies and their mom’s alike.  Cindy’s hard at work on a baby quilt design for this, so we should have a kit up soon.

My novelty choice was Barnyard II, which also contains some fabric from the Barnyard series. I just got a kick out of all those goofy-looking cartoon cows, horses, sheep, goats and pigs on these fabrics.  We also got a couple of Barnyard fabrics, mixed animal faces, a barnyard scene, and some grass and straw fabrics.  We’re still waiting on a couple chicken-wire fabrics to keep all these animals in.  :)

Moving from the ridiculous to the sublime,  we’ve just added one of the lines by the bright

Casting Cats by Hoodie

Casting Cats by Hoodie

new design star at Blank, Hoodie.  Hoodie brings a decidedly Asian-modern influence to fabric design.  Casting Cats, her latest design, features tall skinny cats with fish in their mouths, and more fish, cat scratch fabric, and several others in black, white and gold tones.  We’ll be doing a really dramatic and different kit on this quite soon.  Meanwhile, Casting Cats and a couple of companion fabrics from Hoodie’s Medetai line are on the site now.

Do you like Roman antiquities?  If so,

Verona by Blank

you’ll probably really love Verona, another new Blank line. Verona is in sand, teal and cocoa tones and features a design that looks like cracked marble and ceramic mosaic tile, in ancient Roman designs.  Very tasteful!

Finally, we dive back to the Renaissance era with Renaissance Menagerie. This line features stylized animal surrounded by elaborate designs in dark blue, cream, reds, greens.  The repeat on the main fabric is around 2/3 yard so you’ll need at least a yard to make sure of getting a full repeat, which would be 2 of each of the main four pictures.  There is no good way to line these up for cutting precisely, so make sure you order plenty if you want to get lots of feature pictures.  There are several other lovely prints and blenders that complement and expand on this theme.  This is a lovely line and we think it’ll be very popular.

About 20 minutes after I got through putting these up on the website, one of our customers came in and bought a bunch of yardage of 5 of these fabrics.  I hadn’t even finished proofreading the website entries yet!  We managed to cut and pack it and get it in today’s mail too!

We have several other lines coming from Blank in the near future too, so stay tuned!

Jungle Fun and Dazzling Dahlias!

The Fedex guy showed up today with a couple more big boxes!  Right in the middle of our blowout sale, he dropped off two new fabric lines from Fabric Freedom  Lucky we’re making some room around here!

Jungle Fun Squares

Jungle Fun Squares

Jungle Fun is Bryan Taphouse’s new “fun” line.  Instead of getting novelty prints in cheap chain-store quality, this line features fun jungle animals and the great high quality we’ve come to know and love from Fabric Freedom.   Lions, tigers, elephants and other animals are caught in a setting of jungle greenery in nifty bold colors of orange, green and brown.  These are sure to please any kid, not to mention us “older kids!”   Enough of this talk though, go look at the entire lineup on our website by clicking HERE.

When we first saw the samples of Dazzling Dahlias, the new art-nouveau floral line from Fabric Freedom, we said “Wow! That’s really bright!”  Well, we just got the fabrics, and they’re even prettier than the little samples we saw.  These Dahlias will pop in any quilt you choose to use them in.

We chose the red and yellow colors primarily, and we think they’re the cream of this line.

Dazzling Dahlias - Large Red Dahlia

Dazzling Dahlias - Large Red Dahlia

Bryan has provided us with a nice mix of large, medium and small prints and blenders as well as darks and lights.  Obviously, as usual, the pictures don’t do them any kind of justice.  We’ll try to get some good bolt pictures on the website tomorrow, but in the meantime take our word for it, these Dahlias are truly Dazzling.

Eleanor Burns’ True Blue

Eleanor Burns has written lots of quilting books and published lots of patterns, and her designs are really well-known all over the quilting world.  She’s less well-known for her fabric designs.  But if her new “True Blue” line, made by Benartex, is any

indication, we’ll be looking at all of her stuff in the future.

True Blue is a soft floral line with several prints and blenders in muted tones of cream and ecru. The flower designs are very elegant, in mostly soft blues.  We’ve received eight different fabrics, in large, medium and small prints and blenders, including a cross-hatch print that is very nice.  We’ve noticed we’re a little heavy on light fabrics in this line, and a little light on dark fabrics, so we’re going to be ordering a couple of the darker fabrics to mix in with them.  They should be available in a couple of weeks on our website.  Meanwhile, take a look at this line,  it’s very lovely and will go well with many traditional patterns.  They are 100% cotton and of the usual outstanding quality we’ve come to expect from Benartex. Bali Pops Back! And 839’s too!

We got part of our back-ordered Bali Pops, finally.  These were so popular that Hoffman had to have the fabrics re-printed and it took months and months.  We got the Butterscotch and Kiwiberry,  and are still waiting on the other four colors.  But at least we have some!  So you strip quilters who have been waiting on Pops,  they’re partly here!

AND, we got a surprise in our shipment from Hoffman’s yesterday!  We somehow got two, just

839 Fat Quarter Bundle

839 Fat Quarter Bundle

two more of the giant 839 Bali Handpaint fat quarter collections.  We keep getting told there are no more of these left, then once in awhile they stumble over a couple of them for us.  So, they’re up on the website for as long as they last.  Almost all of the 839 Handpaints are out of print, so getting these is like winning the lottery.  What could You do with 64 handpaint fat quarters?

Click here for a link to the Pops and Fat quarters.

We’re Up To Our Behinds in Batiks!

Wow! The UPS guy came yesterday and dropped off our big spring shipment of Hoffman Handpaints and 1895 Watercolor batiks! We added 18 new shades of 1895

Emerald Halfyard Collection

Emerald Halfyard Collection

Watercolors and have 4 more on order. We also added 58 newBali Handpaints to our batik lineup, and we have another 11 Handpaints on order that will be coming in between now and June.
We, quite frankly, love batiks, and especially Hoffman Bali batiks, so when we decided on a major expansion to our store offerings, batiks were a big target for expansion.

One of the big new things we’re doing is grouping a lot of the Bali Handpaints and pairing them where appropriate with coordinating 1895 Watercolor batiks. If you look at our store you’ll notice that besides the 76 new fabrics, we’ve also come up initially with 11 new color-matched groups, each consisting of from 5 to 8 fabrics that are coordinated and guaranteed to work together. Each of these groupings has several Bali Handpaints and a couple of coordinating 1895’s, in a couple cases they’re all Handpaints. Several of the groups will be expanded when we get additional colors that we’re still waiting on, and we’ll be putting up several more groupings when the fabrics needed for them arrive.

We put up half-yard collections first for each of the groupings. If you do the math you’ll see that, as usual, there are savings to be had by buying the collection.   Click Here for a link to the new half-yard collections.

Soon we’ll be offering our popular “Chubbie” 22 inch fat quarters for each of the collections. We’ve also added two new Chubbie collections for the new 1895 colors we just got. Now you can save even more by buying all five collections together!

So, if you love batiks and you love bargains, you’re in the right place!

New Shakespeare’s Flowers is In!

For you lovers of poems and pansies (and other flowers too), this is a great new line from our friends at Fabric Freedom.  Who better to combine Shakespeare and flowers than the great London fabric house?

Shakespeare's Flowers

Shakespeare's Flowers

Shakespeare’s flowers is a lovely combination of florals and poems.   Shakespeare loved flowers, and worked floral references into his works often, using the symbolism of flowers to describe his ideas about people and places…

When daisies pied and violets blue,
And lady-smock all silver white,
And cuckoo-bud of yellow hue,
Do paint the meadows with delight…

Florals and blenders with Shakespeare quotations in mixable colors, what could be more fun?

We currently have 8 of these fabrics on our website, ranging from the 3 1/2 inch squares showcasing various flower settings, to large, medium and small prints in several colors that mix and match with the panels, as well as two blenders that are covered with Shakespeare’s longhand script.  We are still awaiting one more fabric, which is another pink primrose print with cream background.  Meanwhile, we’ve put the line on the website, and we’ll add the other one when it arrives, making 9 different fabrics.  We’ll have a kit up in two color choices real soon, making a 52 x 52 large lap quilt.

If you liked the Pansy line, you’re going to love this one too! Same great feel and sewability, hand-painted originals, and great engraving and printing.

Put a little culture in your life with this great new fabric line!    Click Here for a link to Shakespeare’ Flowers on our web store.
